Blake summer single ‘So Happy’ added to BBC Radio 2 Playlist

We’re proud to announce that Blake’s second single entitled ‘So Happy’ from their new album “Start Over”, has been added to the very prestigious BBC Radio 2 playlist this week. The news follows their RFL performance at Wembley Stadium for 85,000 people earlier this season, televised live on BBC1…

Being featured on a world famous pop music playlist, listened to by tens of millions of people worldwide, comes as a surprise for the Blake trio, who formed seven years ago (originally in quartet form) as a classical harmony group. Blake are the first ever classical group to be featured on the Radio 2 playlist with a pop song, an unusual achievement they are extremely proud of. Since launching in 2007, the group became twice nominated Classical BRIT-Award winners, achieved three albums at No.1 in the Classical Album Charts and launched their music in over 9 different countries as a classical act. However, as time continued the group began to feel that audiences wanted more and more pop/rock music within their live shows, always drawing upon the complex harmony sound that the group had become known for. Each album brought further experimentation with pop music sounds, finally culminating in the 2013 album ‘Start Over’ which created a unique modern harmony twist, drawing from the Bee Gees, The Beach Boys and Boys 2 Men. The group still very much feel they are classical derived band (over 30% of the songs within their 2 hour live shows are classical) but the natural evolution of their harmony singing style, has drawn them to pop, rock and musical styles too. They hope to present one of the most musically eclectic live shows in the world at this time, designed to thrill audiences with unique juxtapositions of songs.
