BLAKE join TV star Gok Wan to raise funds for Typhoon Yolanda sufferers

This week BLAKE stepped on to the West End stage of the Queens Theatre in London, to raise over £250,000 for sufferers of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. Joined by TV star Gok Wan, the show (supported by Sir Cameron Mackintosh) also featured many Filipino musical theatre stars…

BLAKE joined musical theatres stars from major London productions including Les Miserables, Avenue Q, Blood Brothers, Wicked and many more. The night was a sell-out and the audience electric as performer after performer sang their finest, in full support of the DEC Appeal to raise funds to help typhoon sufferers get back into work and rebuild their lives. The evening uniquely featured an ensemble of Filipino singers, actors and dancers, who had come together to perform for this one show.

BLAKE were honoured and proud to be involved in such a major way, saying the following at the after-show reception:

“Spending so much time in the Philippines travelling, performing and meeting everyone, it’s impossible not to become very attached to it all, to feel part of it. You never feel like an outsider when you’re there, Filipinos welcome you in like family, which makes it all the more devastating when something as awful as Typhoon Haiyan happens. We boys were shocked and pained by what we saw, so returning a month after the disaster to give free concerts as fundraisers in Manila, felt right. Being able to raise funds here in the UK too, also raising awareness for those still suffering, is the least we can do.”
